The Healthy Libraries Program (HeLP) consists of students who are currently training in the fi elds of social work, public health, library science, and nursing, who are available at the library to provide blood pressure screenings, and to answer questions and provide reliable, evidence based information on a wide variety of health topics such as heart disease, diabetes, understanding medications and much more. Students are also available to direct patrons to community resources, help filling out paperwork for social services, finding housing, and assist with finding a healthcare provider and scheduling appointments. This program will be available to all community members on February 3rd and 17th and March 3rd from 2:00 pm - 4:30 pm.
Additionally, our Social Work Intern, Jake is available on Mondays between the hours of 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm, Wednesdays between the hours of 10:00 am - 2:30 pm and Saturdays between 12:00pm-4:00pm. Our Intern can assist with emergency clothing and shelter, family matters and food assistance. To schedule an appointment please call the Reference desk at 631- 878-0940 ext. 5.
